Destination India: an endless choice of tours
Like a diamond, the country offers visitors many facets that a single journey can not count.
Yet, we have a solution : the tailor-made tour to India
Almost everything is said about India. Everything and its opposite. So you're lost. However, having chosen this destination for your next trip, you've decided to make up your own mind. And knowing that the choice of tours is endless, we'd like to help you organise your trip, to discover what we've been passionate about for over twenty years.
But first, we've tried to 'sum up' India.... a few concepts that we hope will convince you, if you are not already, to set off on an extraordinary adventure.
"Unity in diversity" was the slogan chosen when India celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of its independence in 1997. Stretching from the high peaks of the Himalayas in the north, to the tropical greenery of Kerala in the south, and from the sacred Ganges in the east to the sands of the Thar desert in the west, the country encompasses an incomparable variety of landscapes, cultures and peoples. You only have to walk through the streets of an Indian city to see representatives of the world's most important religions, a multitude of castes and outcasts, light- or dark-skinned inhabitants speaking two national languages, around twenty official languages and hundreds, if not thousands, of dialects.
In the temples, the rituals are those transmitted since the time of the Egyptian pharaohs; the mosques are those erected centuries before the dream of the Taj Mahal and the echoes of the British Raj still resonate at many street corners.
All this past remains perceptible today; this is all the more surprising given the pace of change since independence in 1947. Spurred by free market reforms in the early 1990s, the economic revolution launched by Rajiv Gandhi transformed the country, with new consumption needs, new technologies and new ways of life.
Today, the country where religious festivals are as numerous and old as the rivers that flow through it, is the second largest software producer, with its own satellites and nuclear weapons. The growth rate is one of the highest in the world and some of the largest multinationals are run by bosses born on this earth (Tata, Birla, Oberoi, Google, Microsoft, Pepsi Co.,).
Yet India is still perceived as a "developing" country, and many first-time visitors often find it hard to see beyond these preconceptions. Others are surprised to discover one of the most materialistic societies on the planet, when ascetics are visible everywhere. Still others remain intimidated by what initially seemed to them an incomprehensible and disconcerting continent. Of course it is, but for all its juxtapositions, paradoxes and frustrations, India is a unique destination that we, as a local expert agency, are committed to helping you discover in the best possible conditions.
Complex and worn, its patina is very distinct: life in its crowded bazaars, the omnipresent music of "Bollywood" movies, the pungent smell emanating from the mixture of beedi smoke, spices, dust and cow dung. It's an atmosphere like no other, and one that few visitors forget by the time they take off. Love it or hate it, but one thing's for sure: it changes the way you see the world.
We invite you to come and discover this exciting and diverse country, which offers endless tour possibilities.
